Waxing in Docklands: A Straightforward Guide to Smooth Skin
Waxing removes hair from the root, so skin stays smooth for roughly three to four weeks rather than the day or two you get from shaving. If you are looking for waxing in Docklands, this guide covers what each service involves, what it costs at our studio, and how to get the best result from your appointment.
Rritual Beauty is inside Spencer Outlet Centre at Shop T110/201 Spencer Street, so it is easy to fit a wax around your shopping or a lunch break. We wax both women and men, seven days a week.
How waxing works and why the hair grows back finer
Warm wax grips the hair and lifts it out from the follicle. Because the whole hair is removed, regrowth starts from scratch instead of the blunt stubble you feel after shaving. Go regularly and many people notice the regrowth becoming softer and patchier over time, which usually means quicker, more comfortable appointments as the months go on.
Popular waxing services and prices
Here is a sample of what we charge so you can plan ahead. Prices are a guide and can vary a little with hair thickness and treatment time.
- Underarms: $27
- Half legs: from $39
- Full legs: $55
- Full arms: $45
- Bikini line: $34
- Brazilian: $69 (revisit within four weeks and you receive a $14 discount)
- Full body wax (full arms, full legs, underarms and shoulders): $130
The full body package is the one to look at if you tend to book several areas at once, since it works out cheaper than paying for each area on its own.
Getting ready for your appointment
Wax works best when the hair is about the length of a grain of rice, which is roughly two weeks of growth. If it is much shorter the wax has nothing to grip. A day or two before, a gentle exfoliation helps lift any hairs lying flat against the skin. On the day, skip heavy moisturiser or oil on the area so the wax can bond properly. If you are booking a Brazilian and you know you are sensitive, timing your appointment for the week after your period tends to be more comfortable.
Aftercare that actually matters
For the first 24 hours the follicles are open, so keep things calm. Avoid hot showers, saunas, swimming and the gym, and steer clear of fake tan and perfumed products on the area. From day two or three, light exfoliation two or three times a week is the single best thing you can do to prevent ingrown hairs. A plain, non-perfumed moisturiser keeps the skin soft between visits.
How often should you book?
Most people settle into a rhythm of every four to six weeks. Body hair and brow or facial hair often grow on slightly different cycles, so it is normal to book them at different intervals. If you are heading into summer or an event, booking a week ahead gives any redness time to settle completely.
Does waxing hurt?
There is a quick sting as the wax is removed, strongest on the first visit and on more sensitive areas like the bikini line. It fades within seconds, and regular clients almost always report it getting easier as the hair grows back finer.
Can I wax if I use retinol or acne treatment?
Not on skin that is being treated with retinol, strong acids or roaccutane, as waxing can lift the top layer of skin. Let your therapist know what you use and we will recommend a safer option or ask you to pause the product first.
