A brow tint ($21) coats the hairs with a semi-permanent dye, giving instant depth and making sparse areas read fuller. It lasts around two to three weeks on the hair. Tint is the simplest option and pairs well with a thread for a clean, defined finish. If your brows are fair, greying or patchy, this is the easiest upgrade.

Henna brows: fuller-looking and longer-lasting

Henna ($45, or $65 with a thread) stains the skin underneath the brow as well as the hairs. That skin stain is what creates the fuller, more filled-in look, almost like a soft brow pencil that you do not have to draw on each morning. The colour on the skin lasts up to a week or two, and on the hairs up to around six weeks. Henna suits anyone who wants that groomed, defined brow without makeup, and it is a good middle step before considering anything semi-permanent.

Brow lamination: for shape, not colour

Lamination ($65, or $85 with a thread, or $95 with a thread and tint) is a treatment that softens and resets the hairs so they can be brushed up and held in a fuller, more even shape for weeks. It does not add colour on its own, which is why it is often paired with a tint. If your brows are unruly, grow in different directions, or lie flat and sparse, lamination is the one that makes the biggest visible difference. Results last around four to six weeks.

Which should you choose?

• You want subtle colour and definition: tint.
• You want a fuller, filled-in brow without daily makeup: henna.
• Your brows are unruly or flat and you want a groomed, brushed-up shape: lamination (add a tint for colour).
